Opportunity is waiting for you, in addition to an experience of a lifetime. The are many opportunities in the major cities of China, Beijing/Shanghai, for foreigners.

Many real estate companies here are hiring foreigners to serve their expatriate clients. Agency commission on a rental is 8.3% (approx equal to one month’s rental) of the face value of the contract, usually 12 months, and for the sale of a property commission is 3% of the selling price. Then the agent is paid anywhere from 30 to 50% of that commission.

You do not need a license because you are considered a consultant. The downside to this is to build up a network of contacts, then convert them to leads, then clients. Building your network will take time. In addition your housing can be expensive. All in all there is a lot to experience in China, and you are young enough to take advantage of it.

You will need to get a real estate license. Check out your local Realtor’s association for classes.

Start making as many professional contacts as you can, and save your money. The licensing fees etc are high!!!

Most real estate companies will probably take you on, because you are an independent contractor and you only get paid when a sale is made. It’s all commission. Ask around and find the best company for you. In the mean time get some sort of sales job, just so you have some sales experience.
